Chairman, MD – Nicholas M. Garling
Nicholas Garling worked in banking and broking for 21 years in areas concerning equity capital raising, asset disposal, structured derivatives and listed markets sales & trading. He worked with a Sydney legal practice Barraket Kemp & Strang for 4 years whilst studying SAB Law at Sydney Uni. Following this, Nick changed direction and moved into the financial markets field working in Sydney for Fay Richwhite & FIMAT Societe Generale. He spent 10 years in the 90s/00s in Tokyo, Japan & Hong Kong SAR, China with UBS Warburg & Lehman Brothers where he was Managing Director of Equity Markets Group for UBS and before that, Managing Director of Lehman’s Asia-Pacific Equity business. Mr. Garling is the largest shareholder in Morning Star Gold and works full-time in their Sydney office with regular visits to the mining tenements in and around Woods Point.
Director - Dr. Peter G. Jackson BSc PhD MAIG
Dr. Jackson has been the Director of Exploration and Geology for Morning Star for 4 years. He has over 20 years of extensive practical & technical experience in the Woods Point Dyke Swarm (the local gfeology surrounding Morning Star's eastern Victorian mining & exploration tenements). Peter lectured at Melbourne's La Trobe University for many years in Geology and has co-authored, conducted and lead scores of economic studies into Eastern Victorian gold mines. MCO decided to add more scientific and hands on know-how to the board and we are delighted that Peter accepted the Directorship in early 2008. His appointment is also in recognition of the excellent work he's done in MCO's sampling, surveying and drilling programs to date and his wealth of experience in Morning Star's local and regional geology. Peter lived for many years at Australia's Antarctic post and is based in Melbourne, spending his working weeks in Woods Point at the Morning Star mine site.
Director – Peter G. Hepburn-Brown BSc (Eng), Dip Human Resources, MAusIMM
Peter's recently joined the Board upon the retirement of Mal Bird & Max Garling. His role is to direct all mine planning and production going forwards for Morning Star Gold. He will oversee and coordinate all operational aspects of getting the Morning Star mine and surrounding potential ore sources into production. Peter holds a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering and a Graduate Diploma in Human Resources. He holds First Class Mining Certificates in Western Australia, Victoria and Queensland and has over 25 years of diversified mining industry experience from greenfields right through to production. Peter has worked for large-scale gold producers including WMC, Harmony, Niugini Mining, Great Central Mines and St Barbara on a plethora of very successful gold projects such as Bronzewing, Jundee and Leonora. Peter also sits on the Boards of Alloy Resources Ltd (MCO: AYR) and Medusa Mining Ltd (ASX: MML).
Independent Director – Jeffrey W. Williams BSc (Min Engineer) MBA MAusIMM AFAIM
Jeff Williams hails from the mining mecca of Broken Hill NSW and is a mining engineer with 25 years experience in underground mining operations. He worked with CRA Limited (now RIO Tinto) for 12 years mining silver & zinc in their Broken Hill mine. He also worked with North Ltd for several years as their Senior Project Engineer. Jeff is currently Managing Director of the ASX listed Mineral Deposits Ltd (ASX: MDL) with extensive gold mining, exploration and mineral sands interests in Senegal, East Africa. Mr. Williams is based in Melbourne Victoria.
